Why is my A/C not cooling?!

If your air conditioner is not cooling as it should, it may be due to a number of reasons. The first and most important action you can take is to check the thermostat settings.
Make sure that the desired temperature is set lower than the ambient temperature in the room. If this doesn't solve the problem, then there are several other possible causes.
The filter on an A/C unit needs regular cleaning or replacing in order to work effectively. Check if your filter is clogged with dust or debris and replace or clean it as required.
Additionally, make sure that all vents and air ducts are free from blockages – furniture, drapes or other materials might be obstructing airflow through the unit.
It is also possible that the unit may be too small for the room – a unit that is underpowered will struggle to cool effectively. To ensure that your A/C is of adequate size, consult with an HVAC technician.
Finally, it could be that you are facing a mechanical problem such as low refrigerant levels or a malfunctioning compressor motor.
In this case, call an HVAC professional to assess the issue and resolve it quickly.
